General Options
Here you can find some settings of the program that are more of a general nature. They are mostly concerned with the display and handling of your photos.
Rotate and mirror images based on exif orientation: Modern cameras save so called exif data, for example if the camera was turned upside down and therefore the picture was taken upside down. Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4 recognizes this automatically and instantly shows the picture in the right orientation.
Use original file date on saving operations: Many programs with which you can view and edit photo collections work with the file date to order the pictures. As it does not make sense that all edited photos appear as the latest photos, usually the file date will not be changed, when you work with Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4.
Invert mouse wheel zoom: Usually turning the mouse wheel from back to forth zooms into a picture and zooms out, if you turn the wheel into the opposite direction. If you prefer the opposite effect, just check the box in front of this option.
JPEG quality Here you can choose the quality of your stored files. Please keep in mind that files with a reduced quality may need less hard disk space, but may look worse! If you have no current problems with your hard disk drive space, you should keep the good quality and leave the default setting untouched.
Change backup database folder Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4 creates a backup file of every picture which was edited or optimized. These backups are saved into the backup database folder. If you want to change the path (maybe to put it on a hard disc with a larger capacity) click here to open an explorer and choose the new storage location. Your files will be moved to the new place, the needless old folder will be erased.
Restore backup database folder to default Klick here to move your database folder to its default path. (Windows® XP: C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMELocal SettingsApplication DataphotoOptimizeHistoryDataBase; Windows Vista™: C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalphotoOptimizeHistoryDataBase )
