Overview
Let’s take quick look at the arrangement of Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4 ! We’ve spared no efforts to make the browsing easier und more comfortably.
|
Split screen
The new view bar offers a special function – a split screen. This means that the screen is split into two areas so that you can compare the result of an optimization more easily. The image below is a good example for this principle. In the bar below there are five icons with stars on the left-hand side.
They grey star symbolizes the unoptimized image, the golden star symbolizes the optimized picture.
Important: The success of the optimization will only be visible, if you click on “Optimize” before!
The meaning of the five icons
leftmost: the original photo without optimization is shown 2nd from the left: the optimized photo is shown in the middle: in the upper half of the screen the original is shown, below the optimized photo (horizontal split screen) 2nd from the right: in the left half the original is shown, on the right the optimized picture (vertical split screen) rightmost: at the top left the original is shown, down right the optimized picture (diagonal split screen)
Example: The split screen shows the unoptimized picture on the left-hand side, on the right the optimized part of the pictures is shown, after you clicked on Optimize. In this case the vertical split screen is shown.

Display size
By clicking on Full screen (see image below, green frame) you can maximize the preview screen. As a result the directory tree, the thumbnail preview and some other functions will fade out. With the button Window you will get back to the normal screen. Zooming in and out of a picture is easily done. With the three buttons (blue frame) you can zoom out (left button), display the whole picture (in the middle) or zoom in (right button).
Turn and mirror
|
So that you can quickly and comfortably rotate and mirror you images, Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4 provides four buttons that cover these essential functions. They are located on the right-hand side next to the display options (see image below, green frame).

The Backup files
Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4 creates a backup file of every picture which was edited or optimized. If you’re not not satisfied with the result, just click on Undo and the picture will be restored. The default paths for these backup files are:
Windows® XP: C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMELocal SettingsApplication DataphotoOptimizeHistoryDataBase
Windows Vista™: C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalphotoOptimizeHistoryDataBase
Note: Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4 always chooses the partition where your operating system is installed. C: is just the most common but it can be different, of course. Please replace USERNAME with your own user name.
Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 4 now also offers the possibility to change the path of the backup database. See here for more details!
